  • Welcome to Hay River!

Hay River, the NWT’s “jewel of the north” is perfectly located just an hour north of the 60th parallel, (Alberta / NWT border). It is easily accessed by taking Highway 2 at the Enterprise junction. The community stretches along the banks of the Hay River for 25 miles so that residents and visitors can take advantage of nature’s spectacular phenomena throughout the seasons.

Following the Mackenzie Highway through a friendly and vibrant town will take you to the south shores of Great Slave Lake. You will be struck by the miles of sand-drenched beaches, full-serviced campsites, a public beach, and countless spots to throw in your fishing line.

There is no shortage of activities for you and your family while you visit Hay River and its surrounding area. You can enjoy the long summer days hiking, biking, jogging, fishing, sight-seeing, swimming, bowling, golfing, or shopping. The winter scene brings out the snowmobiles, cross-country skis, and skates.

A trip to Hay River would not be complete without visiting its best-kept secret – the Hay River Golf Club and course. Situated 10 minutes south of town, this nine-hole course is as pretty as any course anywhere. Whether or not you golf, enjoying a cool one on the patio of the clubhouse overlooking hole number 9 is a captivating experience.
