Northland Utilities (NWT) Limited began operations in Hay River in 1951. Today it provides electricity to over 2,800 customers in Hay River, Trout Lake, Kakisa, Dory Point, Fort Providence, Wekweti, Enterprise and Katl’odeeche First Nation.  This means we own, operate and maintain the poles and wires that carry the electricity in these areas. Our dedicated seventeen (17) employees are on the job to provide safe and reliable electric service.  Northland Utilities is your first contact when you have the need to establish a new service, construction of electrical facilities, upgrades of an existing service or if you have any questions about your electric service. If you need assistance with your bill, or have energy management concerns, call our Hay River office at 874-6879 or our toll free number 1-800-264-5313.  You can play a vital role in assisting with the safety and security of your home and neighborhood by reporting any power concerns, e.g. trees touching power lines, or street lights not working, or if the power goes off in your area. And remember to please work safely around electricity. Call before you dig.
