Parental involvement in school is vital to the success of students. The Education Act affirms this belief by calling for increased roles and responsibilities for teachers. Parents and students in terms of communications, involvemtnt of parents and focus upon student achievement. Parents are essential in education and have many responsibilities and rights. These include:

• Being informed of the progress, behaviour and attendance of their children in school
• Consulting with the teacher or principal on their children's progress
• Supporting their children and ensuring that they come to school ready to learn
• Cooperating with education staff who are developing their children's school program

Making sure all homework assignments are completed and submitted on time
